This journal article examines the restructuring of the Nigerian economy from 2018 to 2026, with particular focus on the attendant effects on low and middle-income earners. Drawing on recent data and official government scorecards, the analysis traces Nigeria's transition from a fragile, subsidy-dependent economy to one undergoing profound fiscal and monetary reforms. The study finds that while macroeconomic indicators including GDP growth, foreign reserves, and inflation have shown significant improvement by 2026, the human cost of adjustment has been substantial for ordinary citizens. Using a mixed methods approach that incorporates quantitative data, policy analysis, and qualitative assessment of lived experiences, this article argues that the reforms have created a dual economy: one of fiscal consolidation and external stability, and another of household distress and widening inequality. The article concludes with evidence-based recommendations for achieving inclusive, vibrant economic growth that benefits all Nigerians.
