Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) has become a cornerstone in modern legal systems, particularly in countries like India where judicial pendency has reached alarming levels. This research paper critically examines the role of ADR mechanisms such as arbitration, mediation, conciliation, and negotiation in reducing court backlog and improving access to justice. The study highlights how ADR provides a faster, cost-effective, and flexible alternative to traditional litigation. It further evaluates the statutory framework governing ADR in India, analyzes challenges in implementation, and suggests reforms for strengthening ADR mechanisms.
